Morph

Morph is an exploration into the human form and the shapes it takes through the lens of artificial intelligence. Morph was a Generative Adversarial Network that I programmed and trained on carefully curated series of fashion images showcasing, the stereotypical form favoured by the fashion industry (thin, tall, gaunt). I would then watch the training process and intervene, introducing a new set of images to learn from, these images featured an alternative to the human form the AI model was originally trained on, a dataset featuring contortionists and dancers, all in shapes unrecognised by the AI. I would then watch the training process and take screenshots at decisive moments where I thought the AI had made an image that appeared human in form. The result of these disruptions is a constant tension between computer and human intervention.
